Publish the ERA
To: Pres. Biden
From: A constituent in Rogers, AR
November 22
The United States has long upheld a commitment to equality and protecting fundamental rights, yet women still lack explicit constitutional protections against sex discrimination. The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) would enshrine gender equality into the highest law of the land, safeguarding voting rights and democratic representation for all citizens regardless of sex. Although the ERA met the requirements for ratification in 2020, its publication has stalled. This continued delay obstructs progress and undermines core principles of justice. Publishing the ERA is a crucial step to uphold voting rights, prevent rollbacks on hard-won advances, and open new avenues for legislative action towards true gender parity. With the stakes for women's equality heightened after the recent elections, urgent action is needed. I urge you to instruct the Archivist to certify and publish the ERA without further delay, ensuring the Constitution formally recognizes equality of rights shall not be denied on account of sex.
