NWS cuts are putting Kansans at risk

To: Sen. Moran, Sen. Marshall, Rep. Davids

From: A verified voter in Ottawa, KS

April 17

Monday, April 13th there were several tornados almost unexpectedly across the state of Kansas, including one in my hometown. While Kansas weather is notoriously hard to predict, I think it is worth noting that cuts to the NWS will continue to leave people in the dark when it comes to pressing for severe weather. Even as it was developing on top of our town, I never received any kind of severe alert on my phone. These cuts leave people in as read where weather patterns are already volatile at even greater risk. Federal agencies should be there to serve the people of the country, and we would rather our tax dollars go to funding weather research than illegal foreign wars.
