I am horrified by the shooting of an innocent bystander by an ICE officer in Minneapolis today. This was a preventable act of violence, and early attempts to mischaracterize or justify it are deeply troubling. The federal government’s current approach to immigration enforcement is not making our communities safer - it is creating chaos, fear, and deadly consequences in our neighborhoods. Congress must act immediately. ICE must be defunded and fundamentally reevaluated, Secretary Kristi Noem must step down, and the officer responsible must be arrested and charged without delay. Accountability cannot wait. We cannot accept a system where federal agents kill civilians and face no consequences. I expect decisive action from my representatives.
