Safe passage for Sumud!

I write with urgency and deep concern regarding American citizens currently aboard a humanitarian flotilla in the Mediterranean Sea, headed for Gaza. Their sole mission is to deliver life-saving aid and break the blockade imposed on Palestinians. This mission is entirely humanitarian, lawful, and peaceful.
In the past, Israel has intercepted such boats in international waters, in violation of international law, placing lives at risk and preventing legitimate humanitarian efforts.
This time, the world is watching. Dozens of boats with approximately 800 crew members, including American citizens, are sending a powerful message of humanity and solidarity. The United States should be proud of their courage.
I call on you to act immediately:
- Demand unequivocally that American citizens and all crew are protected from interference or attack.
- Publicly call on Israel to lift its blockade of Gaza immediately. The IPC has confirmed famine conditions.
- Affirm your duty to protect American citizens. If they are harmed, history will remember whether the US government acted or stayed silent.
It should never have been necessary for ordinary people to risk their lives to deliver food and medicine. The fact that such a mission is necessary is a stain on humanity. You now have the responsibility to intervene.
Please act urgently. Lives are at stake, and the world is watching.
