Stop the ICE operations in Danbury immediately. Since August 24, masked agents in unmarked cars have been sweeping through our city — from Kennedy Park to Lake Avenue — refusing to identify themselves, using facial recognition software on public sidewalks, and ordering residents to "stay back." This is not law enforcement. This is intimidation.
Danbury's strength comes from its people. One third of this city's population is foreign born. Our public schools speak over 50 languages. These are essential workers, small business owners, students, and neighbors — and they deserve to live without fear of being seized by unaccountable agents who won't even show their faces. No one should be treated as less than human because of their immigration status.
I expect you to use every tool available to halt these operations in Danbury and across Connecticut. Demand that federal agents operating in this state identify themselves, present judicial warrants, and follow the law. This community is watching, documenting, and will not forget who stood with us.
