I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recent reports that Elon Musk and his staff may have gained unauthorized access to private citizen information, potentially violating the Privacy Act of 1974. This law was designed to safeguard individuals’ personal data from unwarranted government and corporate intrusion, and any breach of this protection should be addressed with the utmost urgency. As a private citizen, I did not vote for Mr. Musk nor entrust him with the ability to access or influence sensitive information regarding individuals. Yet, it appears that he has used his influence to obtain privileged information without due process or accountability. This raises serious questions about privacy rights, corporate overreach, and the role of unelected individuals in handling information that should remain protected. I would like to know what steps you and your colleagues in Congress are taking to investigate and address this matter. Specifically, are you aware of any ongoing investigations into potential violations of the Privacy Act of 1974 related to Elon Musk and his enterprises? - What measures are being pursued to ensure that private citizens’ data remains protected from unauthorized access by corporate entities? - How will Congress work to strengthen privacy protections against undue influence from powerful individuals who do not hold elected office? As your constituent, I urge you to take swift and decisive action to uphold the principles of privacy and data security for all Americans. I appreciate your leadership on justice and accountability, and I look forward to your response regarding this pressing issue.
