congress I recently discovered the controversy surrounding the attempt to transfer ownership of Oak Flat, a part of my home county, from the Apache people to a foreign mining company. This news deeply troubled me, as Oak Flat holds immense sacredness for the Apache community. They shouldn’t have to fear losing their land to the Federal government and being given to a foreign entity. I urge Congress to reintroduce and pass H.R.1351, the Save Oak Flat From Foreign Mining Act, to prevent this injustice. While investing in domestic mining is crucial for our nation’s future, we must prioritize preserving sacred land over short-term financial gain. Moreover, the mining operations should be conducted by domestic companies rather than foreign entities. I can hardly comprehend how it would benefit America to have our beautiful land ravaged by foreigners for a quick profit.
