This should be getting FAR more attention. An American oil company with ties to Trump’s orbit is moving forward with plans to drill for oil in Greenland. Some drilling-related equipment has already been brought ashore even though Greenland says the necessary approvals have NOT been granted. The company is Texas-based Greenland Energy. One of its board members is Carol Craig, founder and CEO of Sidus Space, a company involved in work connected to Trump’s “Golden Dome” missile-defense initiative. Greenland Energy has also brought in Dr. Phil McGraw, a prominent Trump supporter who Trump appointed to his Religious Liberty Commission, to produce a documentary series about the Greenland oil project. Greenland Energy is working with UK-based 80 Mile on the project in Jameson Land in eastern Greenland. The company is putting up millions toward exploration in hopes of gaining a major interest in the project, and has promoted estimates suggesting the area could contain an enormous amount of oil. Those potential reserves, however, have NOT actually been proven. Here is where this gets especially concerning. Greenland says the companies still need government approval before drilling can begin, yet drilling-related equipment has already been unloaded on Greenland’s eastern coast without the required authorization. Greenland’s government responded with a strong warning and made it clear that future activity must be approved BEFORE it happens. At the same time, Trump has spent months pushing for American control of Greenland and has refused to rule out using military force to get it. There is no evidence that Trump has directly said, “Approve this oil project or face military action,” and we aren’t claiming that. But you cannot ignore how disturbing these two things are when happening at the same time. An American company with connections to Trump’s orbit wants access to Greenland’s oil, equipment is arriving before proper approvals are in place, and the President of the United States is threatening the sovereignty of the very territory responsible for deciding whether that drilling can happen. Greenland is not Trump’s property, and its natural resources do not belong to the United States or American corporations. Greenlanders should be able to decide what happens to their land without threats, intimidation, or political pressure hanging over their heads. Greenland and Denmark are our allies. This is not how America should treat its friends. 🇬🇱🇩🇰🇺🇸
