I’m writing as a concerned constituent to express my deep alarm over reports that President Trump is threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act. This law, if misused, could be weaponized to suppress dissent, override state authority, and intimidate political opposition under the guise of restoring “order.” I urge you to speak out forcefully and act legislatively to prevent any abuse of the Insurrection Act. We need safeguards to ensure that this outdated and overly broad law cannot be used to erode civil liberties or target peaceful protesters. The power to deploy the military on U.S. soil should never be taken lightly—and certainly not used for political purposes. I believe strongly in our democracy, and I’m doing my part as an informed citizen to stay engaged and hold elected officials accountable. I respectfully ask you to do your part by: • Publicly opposing any misuse of the Insurrection Act; • Supporting legislation that places clear limits on its invocation; • Defending our constitutional rights, no matter who is in office. Thank you for your time, and for standing up for democratic values at a time when they are under serious threat. I will continue to vote for leaders who protect the rule of law and the rights of all Americans.
