Senator Schumer must step down

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Sen. Bennet

From: A constituent in Colorado Springs, CO

April 29

A growing number of progressive groups have been calling for Senator Schumer to resign as Senate Minority Leader, citing his lack of effective leadership and failure to leverage the full obstructionist potential against Republican priorities. Given the profound stakes for the nation, new leadership is required to rally Democrats and resist the current administration’s efforts to undermine democracy, civil rights, and the Justice Department. Schumer’s resignation or removal would pave the way for more dynamic, useful leadership. As your constituent, I demand you support the growing calls for Senator Schumer to step down from his leadership position. We’re in a constitutional crisis and a national emergency - we need leadership to act accordingly. Strongly worded letters will not suffice, and are a ridiculously meek approach given everything that has happened over the past 100 days. When citizens are being removed from the country, or having their homes broken into, when judges are being arrested - a strongly worded letter is not remotely powerful enough against an administration that has little regard for the Constitution itself.  Democrats need someone who is fierce, bold, courageous and willing to act outside of the box. Schumer must step down.
