Why Are You Letting This Country Be Terrorized?
To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
January 14
I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent who is angry, frustrated, and frankly exhausted by the lack of leadership coming from elected officials who are supposed to represent us.
Why are you allowing a reckless and unstable man to continue tearing this country apart? At what point do you decide that your oath to the Constitution matters more than party loyalty or political convenience?
I want to know why you appear comfortable standing by while masked men intimidate and terrorize American citizens. This is not law and order. This is fear, chaos, and authoritarian behavior that has no place in a democratic society. Silence from leaders like you sends a clear message that this behavior is acceptable—and it is not.
Do you care about your constituents at all? Do you care about our safety, our rights, or the long-term damage being done to this country? Or are you simply waiting it out, hoping the outrage fades while real people suffer the consequences?
Leadership requires courage. It requires speaking up when things are wrong, even when it’s politically inconvenient. Right now, your inaction speaks louder than any campaign promise you’ve ever made.
I expect a clear explanation of where you stand, what you are doing to protect the rights of your constituents, and why you believe this course of inaction is acceptable. We are watching, we are voting, and we will remember.
