Stop giving ICE Access to DMV Data - Now!

To: Sen. Becker, Gov. Newsom, Asm. Berman

From: A verified voter in Saratoga, CA

April 15

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to deny access to citizens DMV data by ICE. ICE is currently accessing citizens' DMV data via the Nlets network, then using that data to track and intimidate Americans who peacefully protest ICE's activities. This is a clear violation of First Amendment rights. We’ve all seen the headlines. That many peaceful protests are being targeted ought be no surprise: ICE has been the instigator in nearly every death, injury, or use of violence against our communities. That’s just the facts. I urge you to immediately cut off ICE's unrestricted access to our personal DMV data. This is not about partisan politics – it's about protecting America's founding ideals, and keeping violent ICE officers under control. Thank you.
