Oppose order favoring singular religious ideology over pluralism

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Carter

From: A constituent in Belton, TX

February 7

This executive order from President Trump represents a gross distortion of religious freedom protections under the First Amendment. It sets a deeply concerning precedent that undermines principles of equal protection and the separation of church and state by singling out one particular faith for preferential treatment and prosecutorial muscle. Rather than combating legitimate bias or discrimination, this discriminatory policy itself threatens the democratic values of religious pluralism and government neutrality toward all faiths. I am a constituent from Belton, TX. I will be watching how you handle this constitutional threat and I will vote accordingly. Protecting true religious liberty means defending the rights of all Americans to freely exercise their beliefs without privileging certain faiths over others. Any erosion of the First Amendment's establishment clause must be vehemently opposed to preserve our secular democracy and the strict separation between religion and government.
