ICE Reforms are not enough

To: Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez, Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A constituent in Vancouver, WA

January 28

Chuck Schumer just announced demands on DHS to avoid shutdown: 1. End roving patrols, tighten rules on warrants 2. Enforce accountability & unified code of conduct for agents 3. No more masks & require bodycams There are *already* standards on much of this. The issue is DHS isn't following them! Approaching the problem of "roving death squads" from an incrementalist point of view is just a slow form of suicide. If Trump could be trusted to follow the law, we wouldn't be in this mess. Noem's gotta go. Miller's gotta go. ICE has to be reined in, and it's gotta be crystal clear and airtight that there will be real, swift consequences for breaking the rules. The word "reforms" already proves you are not serious. You cannot reform ICE, it is rotten to the core Defund and Abolish ICE, dismantle DHS. Prosecution trials and jail sentences for everyone involved in this lawless behavior. This is the only acceptable way.
