In this urgent hour, my conscience compels me to plead against the insidious tide of violence and despair that is sweeping across the Palestinian territories, leaving in its wake a trail of unspeakable human suffering that is patently, and tragically, unjust. How much more blood must stain our hands before we realize that our actions, and most notably our economic contributions, have indisputable and direct implications perpetuating this escalating spiral of violence?
Our nation's funds, intended for safegrounding peace, development, democracy, and human rights, are being callously manipulated in aid of actions that directly contradict these principles. The seed money that we blindly grant as our trusted commitment to Israel is being used not to nourish lives but instead to fuel a pitiless war machine that wreaks havoc on Palestinian civilians. It is alarming and heartbreaking that our resources help furnish arms that serve not to defend, but to perpetrate unimaginable terror among innocent lives.
I implore you to consider the weight of our decisions, and the catastrophic chain of consequences derived from them. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to cease the U.S. fiscal and military support to Israel, to help put an end to these unspeakable atrocities faced by Palestinian civilians. Call for an immediate ceasefire in this conflict and step forward as an arbiter in this relentless strife. In the name of justice, human dignity, and the sanctity of all human life, demand and work for the abolition of such immense suffering, such crimes against humanity. Twisted is the logic of peace when it is built upon another's destruction. Let us not merely be spectators to such a catastrophe but active defenders of peace, justice, and human life.
