This Year’s Easter Message from President Trump Is Dangerous

To: Sen. Murkowski, Sen. Sullivan, Rep. Begich

From: A verified voter in Anchorage, AK

April 20

I am writing as a deeply concerned Alaskan in the wake of President Trump’s grotesque Easter message. Rather than offering a message of unity, hope, or compassion—a message fitting of both the presidency and of the holy day—he delivered a vitriolic screed filled with name-calling, authoritarian rhetoric, and deeply divisive language. “Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics…” “Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane…” “Sleepy Joe Biden… our WORST and most Incompetent President…” This isn’t just a crude outburst—it’s the language of authoritarianism. It paints political opponents and even judges and law enforcement as enemies of the state. It dehumanizes people. It foments fear and rage. It’s disgusting. This kind of rhetoric is how democracies erode. It is how fascism grows—when leaders speak this way and others in power choose silence. So I’m asking you directly: how do you stand by this? Whether you support President Trump’s policies or not, this level of toxic, dangerous, and unhinged behavior must be condemned. Leaders of character and conscience do not tolerate this kind of hate—especially when it comes from the highest office in the land. We need you to speak out. We need to know you still believe in democracy, decency, and the peaceful coexistence of differing ideas. This is not just politics anymore. This is about who we are as a country.
