The United States was founded on the principle of rejecting monarchy and instituting a system of democratic self-governance. A core tenet of our constitutional republic is that no single person can wield unchecked authority over the nation. The president's concerning actions suggest a disregard for constitutional limits on executive power and a pattern of seeking to expand their authority beyond what is permissible. We request that Congress uphold its constitutional duty as a co-equal branch of government to investigate these abuses and consider the necessary remedies, including the impeachment process if warranted, to preserve our democratic system of checks and balances and the rule of law.
