I’m writing again because $10 billion more for ICE is insanity — and worse, it accelerates behavior that is already sliding into lawless political violence.
We all know ICE is no longer operating as immigration enforcement. Stop calling it “law enforcement.” It is not. What we are watching looks like an authoritarian project with two obvious goals:
Mass removal and terror, disproportionately aimed at Black and Brown communities, and
Election intimidation — suppressing voter turnout among Americans who oppose this regime.
This pattern is becoming overt.
Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly sent Governor Tim Walz a letter demanding access to Minnesota voter rolls and sensitive personal data, while tying it to federal enforcement actions. This is lawless behavior dressed up as “public safety.”
In Georgia, the FBI executed a search warrant tied to 2020 election records in Fulton County. DNI Tulsi Gabbard said Trump requested her presence, and reporting says she then facilitated a phone call so Trump could speak with FBI personnel after the search.
The danger here isn’t truth — it’s propaganda. They don’t need proof. They only need inference. Fox News turns it into “fact,” and a public trained out of critical thinking accepts it as truth. Worse, the likely outcome is intimidation of state election officials, so they hesitate to do their jobs.
So my position is simple:
NO additional funding for ICE. Not $10B.
But if Congress insists on funding anyway, then attach enforceable demands:
NO ICE WITHIN ONE MILE OF STATE POLLING PLACES.
States should DEPLOY NATIONAL GUARD OBSERVERS at every polling location to protect voters — especially Black and Brown voters.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHUNK FUNDING ONLY: break any funding into small “chunks” with audit requirements, deadlines, and measurable compliance targets. Funding stops automatically if ICE fails even one checkpoint. No exceptions. This is doable — and it is necessary.
Do not bankroll intimidation. Do not normalize it. Stop this $10B.
