Preserving Marriage Equality

To: Rep. Bynum, Sen. Wyden, Sen. Merkley

From: A constituent in Gladstone, OR

April 18, 2025

Please understand the importance of your position at this time in history. Writing as a member of the LGBTQ community I ask you to stand with us and advocate for the protection of our rights. LGBTQ people deserve the right to marriage free from discrimination. As states continue to petition the US Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell, it is more important now than ever to preserve it. As your constituent I ask that this remain a priority for you. Should legislation come before you that could further cement protections for marriage equality it is vital that you support it. Please also consider drafting something. There is still a marriage ban on the books in Oregon and it is not up for removal on a ballot until 2026. We need protections now. Thank you.
