Hello, I am a constituent from Auburn and I am writing today because I am terrified about what could happen with the upcoming midterm elections. My fear is that the GOP will lose enough of their House and Congressional seats to flip the House and Senate Blue. Seeing that his control and protections have slipped away, Trump will declare massive voter fraud. He will call upon the GOP to refuse to accept the results of the midterms. He will call upon the FBI to seize ballots and voting machines across the country within days. Then Republican officials will cancel results in the districts they lost and order new votes. Chaos will ensue, we will take to the streets in protest, and Trump will deploy troops under the Insurrection Act. Then, on January 3rd, Congress will refuse to seat the Democrats. And democracy as we know it will take its last gasping breath and end. Why do I fear these things? Because Trump and his agents of chaos have already done EACH of these things I have described. I'm not a fear monger. I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I have just recognized the pattern of this administration and don't want to watch it happen again. I urge you to do everything in your power to ensure the midterm elections occur, all ballots are counted, resulted are certified, and winning candidates are seated. California's Governor Newsom has passed a law making it a felony for anyone to seize ballots, election records, or voting equipment before certification. I know we do not have time to pass a similar law, but I am asking you to do everything in your power to ensure our voices are heard, are counted, and their choices are certified and seated. I am also asking you to speak to your fellow legislators, governors, house representatives, and congress people and ask that they do the same before we lose democracy forever. Thank you.
