I’m enraged that Donald Trump is offering $5,000 to voters to get them to support Republicans in the midterms. It’s a felony under U.S. Code 52 section 10307 to offer voters anything in exchange for their vote. Federal law says “Whoever . . . pays or offers to pay . . . for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years.”According to Lawrence Tribe Trump’s offer is, in fact, an impeachable offense. He says, and I quote: “Bribery is…the second impeachable offense expressly named in the Constitution, right after treason.” Donald Trump needs to be impeached and removed. And Congress needs to demand he stop trying to bribe the voters with a promise that would a) spike inflation and our national debt disastrously and b) we all know is a lie. Thank you.
