End war US started with Iran for no reason. I was little during the Viet Nam war, the last war where the United States drafted individuals into the military to fight and die. I still remember the constant fear in our neighborhood since so many were sent to Viet Nam and some died. I remember at the age of maybe 8 standing in our new school gym as it was dedicated to a 19/20 year old from our Parrish who was killed in Viet Nam. Even as a young kid it was clear that the sacrifices in war always disproportionately fall on the soldiers and families of the poor and working class. Those who our society gives the least to are always those who sacrifice the most. Three high schools in Philadelphia lost more graduates in the Viet Nam War than any other schools of their kind in the country, all working class: Edison lost 64 graduates and has been documented to have lost more graduates to the Viet Nam War than any other high school in the country. Cardinal Dougherty and Father Judge both lost 27 graduates being the Catholic High Schools that lost more graduates than any other Catholic schools in the country. Presidents choosing to engage in war is the decision to loose lives from our country and kill humans from “the other side”. Going to war for power grabs, political distractions, show of force, personal enrichment is among the most immoral decisions a president can make.
