Investigate Trump's Ballroom Spending and Protect Taxpayer Money

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. McClintock, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in El Dorado Hills, CA

June 21

Congress must investigate what Trump is doing with money Congress appropriated, and it must happen before a single dollar is spent on his White House ballroom. Trump promised taxpayers would not pay for this project. He lied. His budget office just moved $352 million in Secret Service funds into a line item called "White House Security Measures" tied directly to the ballroom project. That is not a security upgrade. That is a scam. Congress sets the budget. The administration does not get to quietly repurpose appropriated funds for a gilded monument to Trump without congressional approval. You have both the authority and the obligation to act. Require full transparency about every dollar connected to this project, demand a complete accounting of how these funds were moved and why, and make clear that no taxpayer money will go to Trump's ballroom. This is your constitutional authority being stolen in real time. Protect it.
