Demand Accountability for Trump’s Racist Video

To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst, Rep. Nunn

From: A verified voter in Des Moines, IA

February 8

I am writing to demand that you publicly call on President Trump to apologize for posting a racist, AI-generated video on February 5, 2026, depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes. When the President shares openly racist content—even if later deleted—it normalizes hatred and violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the 14th Amendment. Racist imagery depicting Black Americans as primates has been used throughout history to dehumanize and justify discrimination. When it comes from the presidency, it carries governmental weight and causes real harm to citizens. As my representative, you have a constitutional duty to hold the Executive Branch accountable to basic ethical and constitutional standards. I am asking you to: 1. Issue a public statement condemning this racist post 2. Call on President Trump to apologize 3. Affirm that racism has no place in our government This is not about political disagreement—it is about whether racism from our President will be met with silence or moral courage. Your constituents are watching. I expect your response within two weeks.
