I am writing as a constituent to say, without hesitation, that I am furious, disgusted, and deeply alarmed.
The president is openly seizing powers that belong to Congress under Article I of the Constitution—and you are sitting by and letting him do it. Not fighting. Not defending your role. Not exercising a single check. Just letting it happen.
You have already allowed him to:
• Reappropriate and eliminate funding Congress approved,
• Impose or lift trade tariffs as if they were his personal economic tools,
• And now, even entertain the idea of suspending the writ of habeas corpus—based on a distorted claim of “invasion” that has no legal or historical foundation.
This is outrageous. You are not just failing your constituents. You are failing the entire structure of American government.
If you are not willing to defend your own constitutional powers—if you are going to roll over and let the executive branch dismantle the authority of Congress—then why are you taking a salary? Why are you pretending to serve? You look weak. And you are weakening this country.
You were not elected to be spectators. You were not sent to Washington to protect a president or a party. You were sent there to uphold the Constitution and to represent the people. Right now, you are doing neither.
This country is not ruled by a king. We do not live in an autocracy. At least, not yet. But if Congress keeps surrendering power and doing nothing, that’s exactly where we’re headed.
You should be ashamed. If you aren’t going to do your job, then resign. Go home. Stop collecting taxpayer money to sit in a chamber you’re helping to hollow out.
I’m a constituent, and I vote. I expect better. And I will not stop speaking out.
