Today at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Mr. Trump confused Putin and Zelenskyy—-who was sitting beside him—-yet again. Minutes earlier, he referred to the Islamic republic of Japan, as he spoke of the effectiveness of US Patriot missile systems, so he may have been meaning to reference Iran. And all of this was happening at a time that he was telling the world that our fragile ceasefire in a war he began without international or domestic support was over.
Democrats and Republicans alike assured the American people that we would not again see a president in clear cognitive freefall after the frighteningly poor performance of our previous president during a debate. The current president is not engaged in relatively low-stakes verbal sparring with a political adversary——he is displaying obvious cognitive problems on the world stage before international allies AND adversaries.
The president is unwell.
His unfitness is on display for the world to see and the continued inaction of his cabinet requires congressional intervention to ascertain the extent and scope of his clear incapacity.
