I am a proud Texan. I adore our beautiful state. Big Bend National Park is crucial to the Lone Star State because it is one of the most sacred places in the state of Texas. I am humbly asking you to sign this petition to order the President of the United States to stop the destruction of Big Bend National Park as well as Congress to stop funding this horrible waste of taxpayer dollars. Big Bend National Park was officially authorized as a national park on June 20, 1935 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed it into law and the 1944 deed was signed into federal existence. The park’s history is marked by the presence of Native American tribes, Spanish settlers, and significant archaeological discoveries dating back over 10,000 years ago! Our National Park is also famous for its natural resources and recreational opportunities! We shouldn’t destroy a National Park to construct a wall that can easily be climbed over just like the Great Wall of China was overcome by Genghis Khan and his army when they simply went around sections of the wall, or when the Tanguts crossed the Great Wall of China easily in 1002 by filling trenches along its length while guards during the Song Dynasty weren’t looking. Another example of how the Great Wall of China failed is when a traitorous general simply allowed the invading Manchu forces through the Great Wall. Why use an ancient solution for a modern problem when we can use modern technology rather than resorting to the destruction of a sacred site for Texans? End the destruction of Big Bend National Park NOW!!!
