Watergate-Level Abuses, Zero Accountability — What Are You Getting Out of This?

Dear Representative, I am writing not to request action — I am demanding an explanation for the absence of it. Over the past several months, the Trump administration has committed a pattern of constitutional violations that, taken individually, would have triggered congressional proceedings against any prior president. Taken together, they represent a sustained assault on the constitutional order you swore to defend. The record is documented and not seriously disputed: — President Trump ordered military strikes on Iran without congressional authorization or notice, in direct violation of the War Powers Clause. Foreign leaders received advance notice. Congress did not. — At least 17 Inspectors General were illegally fired without the 30-day congressional notice required by law — eliminating independent oversight of the executive branch in a single night. — Multiple federal courts have ruled this administration’s actions unlawful, only to be defied or circumvented. When courts blocked the wind energy executive orders, the administration spent nearly $2 billion in taxpayer funds to achieve the same outcome through private buyout agreements. — The President publicly called for the execution of six sitting U.S. lawmakers — veterans and intelligence officers — and threatened federal judges by name. — Congressionally appropriated funds were frozen and redirected in violation of the Impoundment Control Act and the Anti-Deficiency Act — usurping the congressional power of the purse. — An executive order was issued stripping birthright citizenship protections guaranteed by the 14th Amendment — a provision settled by the Supreme Court for over a century. — The President issued threats of genocide against the Iranian civilian population in public social media posts, prompting members of your own chamber to call for invoking the 25th Amendment. Multiple impeachment resolutions have been introduced. They have been tabled, stalled, or ignored. I have two direct questions for you: First: Why? The constitutional threshold for impeachment is abuse of power and high crimes against the republic. That threshold has been met, by the administration’s own public record, multiple times. What is your legal or procedural justification for inaction? Second: Are you personally benefiting from this inaction? This is not a rhetorical question. Your constituents have a right to know whether campaign contributions, committee assignments, federal funding to your district, or personal financial interests have any bearing on your willingness to exercise oversight. If the answer is no, say so on the record and explain why you are not acting. History will record what happened here. It will also record who watched it happen and said nothing. Respectfully
