Investigate DOGE's Data Mishandling and Musk's Conflicts of Interest

To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla, Rep. McClintock

From: A constituent in El Dorado Hills, CA

August 4

Congress must hold Elon Musk and DOGE officials accountable — starting by investigating DOGE's mishandling of our Social Security data, Musk's enormous conflicts of interest, and the potential ongoing misuse of positions within government by DOGE officials who also hold positions at major corporations, investment firms, and other for-profit entities. Where is the data they compiled, and who has control over it? These aren't abstract concerns. DOGE accessed the personal data of nearly every American, including Social Security records, and there is still no clear answer about where that data went or who controls it. Musk ran this operation while heading companies with billions in federal contracts. That is a textbook conflict of interest, and Congress has both the authority and the obligation to investigate it. Congress must use its oversight power to find out what was taken, who has it, and whether DOGE officials are still exploiting their government access for private gain. I expect you to be part of that effort.
