Don’t dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research
To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Roy
From: A verified voter in San Antonio, TX
December 19
On December 16th, President Trump announced that the research at Nation Center for Atmospheric Research, NCAR, in Boulder Colorado will be moved to other entities. This cannot happen. At NCAR, scientists’ innovative research provides the foundation for others working to improve operational forecasts. Also, NCAR serves the need of a variety of stakeholders in education, research, and industry. The president of the university corporation for atmospheric research, Antonio Busalacchi, said that NCAR’s research “is crucial for building American prosperity by protecting lives and property, supporting the economy, and strengthening national security.” I urge you to stop President Trump from dismantling a cornerstone of science and weather research.
