Rolling out an unvetted, error-prone screening mechanism to solve a phantom problem, while creating guaranteed mass disenfranchisement, is unacceptable. The U.S. Constitution explicitly reserves the administration of elections to the states, not an unaccountable federal postal bureaucracy. Every member of Congress took a solemn oath to support and defend the Constitution and the voting rights it guarantees. Looking the other way while a federal agency unilaterally seizes control over state elections—and silences thousands of legitimate voters over a single clerical error—is fundamentally incompatible with that oath. Defending access to the ballot is not a partisan issue; it is the baseline duty of your office. I urge you to take the following actions immediately: 1. Initiate Committee Hearings and Subpoenas: Call on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) and House Oversight Committee to convene emergency public hearings and subpoena all internal USPS communications, contracts, and software specifications related to the portal. 2. Audit Judicial Violations: Demand an independent Inspector General investigation into USPS leadership’s decision to continue constructing the portal while under an active federal court injunction. 3. Halt Implementation Pending Review: Introduce legislation, or attach appropriations riders, to block funding for any batch-rejection ballot screening mechanism until independent security audits and clear appeals protocols are certified.
