Reject Bill Undermining Judicial Authority and Checks/Balances

To: Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego

From: A constituent in Mesa, AZ

April 17

This proposed legislation, the No Rogue Rulings Act of 2025, would severely limit the authority of federal district courts to issue injunctive relief, except in very narrow circumstances. It represents an alarming encroachment on the judiciary's ability to act as a check on the other branches of government and uphold constitutional rights. The bill would prohibit district courts from issuing nationwide or universal injunctions, constraining them to case-by-case rulings that apply only to the parties before the court. This could enable the executive branch to continue unconstitutional policies while tying up the courts with repetitive cases. Moreover, the bill imposes new procedural hurdles by requiring multi-state challenges to go before randomly selected three-judge panels. This threatens to create inconsistent rulings and sow confusion. The separation of powers and system of checks and balances are cornerstones of our democracy. Curtailing the courts' injunctive authority undermines their vital role in protecting rights and upholding the rule of law. I urge you to reject this damaging legislation that would compromise judicial independence and accountability.
