Immediate congressional oversight of the “Release of Claims” filing by Blanche

To: Rep. Mills, Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Port Orange, FL

May 20

We, the undersigned, urge immediate congressional oversight regarding the reported May 2026 “Release of Claims” filing submitted by attorney Todd Blanche on behalf of Donald J. Trump. If this filing seeks to extinguish, waive, or preempt legal claims through negotiated or unilateral procedural mechanisms, it raises urgent separation-of-powers and accountability concerns that Congress cannot ignore. This matter demands scrutiny because it may: Undermine judicial authority by attempting to bypass normal adjudication of claims Create a precedent for de facto legal immunity through procedural filings rather than court rulings Limit transparency in matters of substantial public interest Erode equal application of law to public officials and private citizens alike We call on Congress to: Immediately request full disclosure of the filing’s contents, scope, and legal justification Conduct oversight hearings through the House Judiciary and/or Senate Judiciary Committees Examine whether any statutory or constitutional safeguards are being circumvented Ensure no legal mechanism is used to nullify accountability without public judicial review Congress has a duty to protect institutional integrity and prevent the normalization of legal carve-outs for powerful individuals. We request prompt action and public accountability.
