Support the GAO

To: Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Smucker, Sen. McCormick

From: A constituent in East Petersburg, PA

July 11

congress I am writing to urge you to consider the valuable role the Government Accountability Office plays in helping Congress with its oversight and accountability responsibilities. Without the GAO, Congress’s ability to discover waste, inefficiencies, and even fraud will be diminished. a vital role in providing independent oversight and accountability for the federal government. For instance, GAO identified $67.5 billion in potential savings and efficiencies, quite “a bang for the buck” given that happened in one year and saved the American people $76 for every $1 invested in the agency. Please, I beg you, support this vital watchdog that serves Congress and ultimately American citizens. Please don’t diminish Congress’s capacity to fulfill its responsibilities to the American taxpayers, particularly when so much of the social safety net is being gutted.
