With thousands of immigrants being abducted daily, and multiple reports of DACA recipients being violently and unlawfully detained by ICE, you must take urgent action to protect our communities and deliver bold protections like the Dream and Promise Act! In recent weeks, reports have emerged detailing the unlawful detention of DACA recipients who have built their entire lives and careers in the U.S. In Florida, a DACA recipient was detained during a traffic stop and sent to the Everglades Detention Center. In California, Javier Diaz Santana, a DACA recipient who is deaf, was abducted from his place of work and detained without accommodations for nearly a month. That’s inhumane, and you’re complicit. Their detention — and the abduction of thousands more of our immigrant neighbors — make it clear why you need to take IMMEDIATE action to protect the millions of people who power our country. I demand that you take urgent action to release all individuals held in detention centers across the country, including the Everglades Detention Center in Florida. With millions of lives being terrorized and thousands having their constitutional rights violated, you must pass bold protections like the Dream and Promise Act NOW to prevent more of my neighbors from being abducted.
