Please oppose H.R. 498 (Do No Harm in Medicaid Act). As a social worker with a focus on children and families, I know that restricting healthcare access for minors is incredibly harmful. When discussing issues of child welfare, we recognize that children who lack support, stability, or appropriate care are at greater risk for neglect, emotional harm, and adverse outcomes. Access to necessary medical and mental health services can serve as an important protective factor for at-risk children. Policies that limit care options for minors are extremely harmful and problematic.
