Crime in D.C. is at historic lows. There is no emergency to justify Donald Trump sending federal troops or diverting FBI agents to walk street beats. This is not public safety — it is a dress rehearsal for martial law.
If Trump actually cared about law enforcement, he’d fund local police, not strip federal agencies from investigating terrorism, espionage, and human trafficking. Instead, he pardoned violent January 6th offenders, hired extremists who threatened police, moved a child sex abuser to minimum security, and freed a triple murderer from Venezuela. His record makes it clear — this is not “law and order,” it’s loyalty to criminals who serve his purposes.
This is raw power and intimidation. Armed soldiers on city streets chill dissent. Forcing unhoused people to move without shelter criminalizes poverty and funnels them toward incarceration.
D.C. is Trump’s proving ground for authoritarian control — and if Congress stays silent, the tactics will spread. Texans expect their senators to defend liberty, not shrink from a bully. Stand up now, or your cowardice will be what history remembers.
