The Republican plan to cut Social Security benefits puts the financial security of millions of seniors at risk. Social Security is a crucial lifeline that provides retirement income for over 65 million Americans, lifting 15 million seniors out of poverty. Any cuts would be devastating, especially as costs of living continue to rise. We must protect and strengthen Social Security for current and future retirees who have paid into the system their entire working lives. Social Security does not contribute to the deficit and its funds should never be used as a bargaining chip in political games. I urge you to publicly oppose any efforts to privatize, raise the retirement age, or slash benefits for hard-working Americans who have earned their Social Security. Please fight to expand and reinforce this vital program that provides dignity in retirement.
