Restore Bears Ears National Monument to Its Full Boundaries

To: Rep. Dunnigan, Rep. Owens, Sen. Lee, Pres. Trump, Sen. Harper, Gov. Cox, Sen. Curtis

From: A verified voter in West Jordan, UT

August 26

Restore Bears Ears National Monument to its original boundaries. The justification used to shrink it — that recreation was "virtually impossible" — has been exposed as false. Documents reviewed by The New York Times show that officials knew public access was not blocked. The claim was not a policy disagreement; it was a fabrication used to open protected land to extraction. Bears Ears was designated to protect sacred Indigenous sites and irreplaceable public lands. Shrinking it based on knowingly false pretenses is a betrayal of the public trust and of the tribal nations who fought for that protection. I expect you to go on record demanding a full restoration of the monument and an accounting of how those false claims made it into official policy.
