Elon Musk, through his vast network of companies and influence, is actively orchestrating a takeover of the U.S. government’s financial institutions and departments. His actions, along with the direct involvement of some of his employees, are causing severe harm to American citizens, the economy, and global stability. This is an unacceptable threat to democracy and must be addressed with urgency. As a state that has long been home to many of Musk’s enterprises—Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, The Boring Company, and X (formerly Twitter), among others—it is incumbent upon California’s leadership to take decisive action. I urge you to: 1. Ensure legal accountability for executives, employees, and other co-conspirators involved in these anti-democratic efforts, potentially invoking the California RICO Act (Penal Code §186 et seq.) to address organized criminal activity. 2. Use state authority to freeze assets, issue subpoenas, and, if necessary, seize control of Musk-affiliated enterprises that have been implicated in subverting democratic governance, under the provisions of the California Business and Professions Code §17200 3. Launch a full-scale investigation into Musk’s companies, examining their roles in this coup, in accordance with California Penal Code Section 182, which prohibits conspiracy to commit a crime, and other applicable statutes. 4. Protect workers and whistleblowers who may have knowledge of these activities and wish to come forward, potentially in accordance with California Labor Code §1102.5 California cannot stand idly by while our democracy is undermined. I urge you to use all available legislative, legal, and regulatory tools to address this crisis. The people of California are counting on you to uphold the rule of law and protect our democracy from corporate overreach and authoritarian ambitions.
