I'm urging you to oppose a budget reconciliation bill that funds ICE and Border Patrol without any reforms or accountability. Congress should be working to stop these rogue agencies from endangering the American public, not using a sneaky partisan procedure to enable them. Budget reconciliation requires new spending to be offset by cuts elsewhere. That means funding ICE and CBP expansion will come at the expense of healthcare assistance, particularly Affordable Care Act subsidies that millions of families depend on. Americans are already struggling with rising costs for healthcare, food, and fuel. We need relief, not cuts to the safety net. ICE and CBP have documented records of human rights abuses. Expanding their budgets without meaningful oversight or reform only enables more harm. Instead of ramming through partisan funding increases, Congress should focus on accountability measures and addressing the real problems families face every day.
