Pass SB4814 to Protect Haitian Nationals Under TPS

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Cincinnati, OH

August 27

Pass SB4814 now. Haiti's ongoing crisis — gang violence, political collapse, no functioning public safety — makes deportation a death sentence for thousands of Haitian nationals living and working in my community. This bill locks in Temporary Protected Status through April 2029 and prevents any executive branch from stripping that protection on a political whim, the way it's been done before. The "notwithstanding any other provision of law" clause is exactly what's needed here. Congress has the constitutional authority to mandate this designation, and given how TPS for Haiti has been weaponized by executive action in the past, leaving it to discretion is not an option. These are our neighbors, our coworkers, people who have built lives here. Vote yes on SB4814.
