Governor Newsom — I am urging you to sign AB 2599, the Truth in Disclosure Act, before September 30, 2026. This bill requires corporations with over $100 million in annual revenue to submit sworn affidavits — under penalty of perjury — disclosing whether they or their predecessors profited from chattel slavery. JPMorgan's predecessor banks took 1,250 people as property. Their response was $5 million — $4,000 per person. Their worth today is $960 billion. Wells Fargo absorbed Wachovia, whose predecessors owned enslaved people. These corporations operate in every neighborhood in California today. They have never disclosed this to the state.
