Presidential appointment nominees

I hope you have had "time to get Christmas presents for the kids". Merry Christmas! Once you're back to work, I expect (and will be repeatedly demanding) that you get the new administration's nominees to state UNDER OATH what they tell you in private, off-the-record conversations in order to convince you to approve them. For example, it's great that you are sure that Kash Patel's "going after Trump’s enemies" statements are overblown. (cf. “All of these interviews were all off the record,” Fetterman told ABC News’s Jon Karl yesterday. “So I’m not going to go into detail, but he absolutely—you know, that’s never going to happen.”) However, the U.S. Constitution places upon the Senate the responsibility to be involved in presidential appointments, i.e. "by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate" (Article II, Section 2, Clause 2). As one of my Senators, I expect that you will be taking this responsibility seriously and getting nominees to state for the Senate's records what they will or will not do. I will be in touch again in 2025. Best wishes for a Happy New Year!
