A tale of two senators. Lindsey Graham is dead. Officially Mitch McConnell? He is reported to have been admitted to a hospital June 14. No official word has come from his office. Majority leader Thune and Senator Barrosso have said that they have spoken to him and he is alive. There have been reports and some video of a unconscious and unresponsive body being wheeled out of McConnells, DC home. No official word or confirmation.
The difference? The governors of their respective states. SC governor McMaster is a Republican and would certainly appoint a Republican to temporarily fill the vacancy-
Kentucky governor Beshear is a Democrat and would presumably appoint one of his party to temporarily fill the seat.
With the narrow GOP majority in the Senate, a shift of 1 seat and the potential incumbent effect on the midterms could be a problem for the GOP. So why the mystery about McConnell?
If a senator is alive but brain dead or has alzheimers he still retains his seat.
I’m not ordinarily a conspiracy theorist, except in the case of the GOP trying to retain power. Do I think there is something fishy going on? Absolutely. We need to get official, verified information on Sen. McConnell’ health.
