ICE officers must be identifiable

To: Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

June 23

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conducting enforcement actions should be readily identifiable and clearly distinguished from other law enforcement agencies. The growing number of masked individuals impersonating ICE agents raises serious concerns about accountability and due process. It also allows criminals to rob with impunity. A thorough investigation is needed into any potential outsourcing or contracting personnel related to ICE operations. Clear protocols must be established to ensure all ICE personnel and contractors are properly identified, follow lawful procedures involving warrants, and uphold constitutional rights during the course of their duties, especially the right to due process. Transparency and adherence to the rule of law are paramount in maintaining public trust and protecting civil liberties.
