John Cornyn Committed Libel Against a Pastor

To: Sen. Cornyn

From: A verified voter in Dallas, TX

April 27

You have misquoted my colleague in a libelous manner. You posted the claim that Rev. Dr. Jim Rigby made light of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in his Sunday sermon. Here is the part of the quote you posted: “Last night there was an assassination attempt. I know a lot of people have mixed feelings...” Here is the part of the sentence you left out: “...but, it's really, really important if you're going to be the healing agents of the world to realize that violence is not going to get rid of the problem that we have.” Why would a U.S. Senator only give half of a quote? You can't imagine the hateful calls and emails Dr. Rigby has been getting. You owe Dr. Rigby an apology and you should quote the full statement rather than splice a sentence to create a lie about what he meant. Clergy like Dr. Rigby and I will only be more determined to speak against these kinds of hateful and deceptive political practices.
