Consider this your weekly reminder that, unless you change course, I will do everything I can as a constituent to ensure you are not reelected. You have repeatedly chosen to stand with this administration instead of standing up for the people you were elected to represent. Time and again, you have remained silent while executive power has expanded, the rule of law has been tested, and the interests of your constituents have been pushed aside. In my view, you have chosen loyalty to a president whom I believe has shown authoritarian tendencies rather than fulfilling your constitutional duty to provide oversight and represent the people of this district. I find that deeply disappointing and unacceptable. I believe the Republican Party is headed for a difficult midterm election because too many elected officials have refused to challenge conduct that many Americans find unacceptable. Instead of defending the Constitution and the system of checks and balances, you have chosen political loyalty over your oath of office. You should be ashamed that so many of your constituents feel abandoned by the very person elected to represent them. Your job is not to protect a president. Your job is to protect the Constitution and serve the people who sent you to Washington. I hope you will remember that every vote, every public statement, and every decision you make will be remembered by the people you represent. History has a way of judging those who remain silent when courage is required. I will continue to remind you each week that your actions have consequences, and I sincerely believe you are putting your political future at risk by refusing to stand up for your constituents.
