Vote NO on Todd Blanche: No More Stonewalling Congress
To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Beatty
From: A verified voter in Columbus, OH
July 13
As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to vote NO on the confirmation of Todd Blanche as Attorney General. His months-long obstruction of Congress already disqualifies him from leading our justice system. You must use this week's confirmation hearings to force the truth into the open before voting to reject his nomination. The Senate Judiciary Committee's hearing begins July 15. In an unprecedented move, it is being combined with the annual DOJ oversight hearing to compress scrutiny of both the nominee and his department. This convenient shortcut for Blanche should not be tolerated by the Senate. On July 1, every Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee demanded immediate responses to dozens of oversight requests left unanswered for months, and in some cases over a year. The DOJ is actively hiding information regarding: - The Ghislaine Maxwell transfer: Who authorized moving a convicted sex trafficker to a minimum-security facility days after Blanche personally visited her. - The Trump family tax immunity deal: The document Blanche signed permanently barring the IRS from auditing the president, his family, and hundreds of affiliated businesses. - The $1.8 billion slush fund: Which Blanche claimed to cancel but refused to put in writing. - The Epstein files: Missing FBI interview records and allegations against Donald Trump. - Court deception: Allegations that senior DOJ official Emil Bove directed staff to mislead courts. - The $400 million Qatari jet: The legal opinion allowing Trump to accept the aircraft. - FBI Director Kash Patel: Reported impairment and absences on the job. - The killing of Renée Good: DOJ's decision to block a use-of-force investigation into Border Patrol. This is not a partisan complaint. Republican Chairman Chuck Grassley supports Blanche but publicly admitted critical records are missing: "I expect Blanche to respond to my outstanding requests for records so the American people get the transparency and accountability they deserve." When the man running the hearing states the nominee is hiding information, it is a statement of fact. Furthermore, a court just allowed the DOJ to conceal Blanche's records before the hearing, rejecting an expedited FOIA request from American Oversight. The public is being intentionally deprived of the factual record before a permanent constitutional vote. An Attorney General who hides his record from Congress cannot be trusted with permanent power. His pattern of secrecy is an automatic disqualifier, no matter what excuses or late records he offers at the last minute. I urge you to take two clear actions: 1. Vote NO on confirming Blanche. His refusal to answer basic questions about his conduct as Acting Attorney General proves he cannot meet the burden of proof for permanent confirmation. 2. Force answers under oath. Use the hearing to drag the Maxwell transfer, the tax immunity deal, the Epstein files, and the slush fund onto the public record under penalty of perjury before his nomination is rejected. A nominee who hides the record of his own tenure has told you exactly what kind of Attorney General he intends to be. Protect the Constitution and vote NO.
