I’m writing to ask why you chose not to vote in favor of ending the ongoing U.S. military conflict with Iran — a conflict many of us here in Minnesota view as both unpopular and legally questionable. From my perspective, Congress has a responsibility to assert its constitutional role in authorizing war, and this vote was a chance to do exactly that. For years, the public has been told that these operations are “limited,” “defensive,” or covered under old authorizations that no longer match the reality on the ground. Yet the strikes continue, the risks escalate, and the American people are left carrying the cost without a clear mandate or mission. Ending this conflict — or at minimum forcing a full debate and a lawful authorization — is not weakness. It’s accountability. Your vote matters to those of us who believe that war should never drift forward on autopilot. I’d like to understand your reasoning. What strategic, legal, or constitutional justification led you to oppose ending a conflict that many of your constituents believe should never have been allowed to expand without explicit approval? I hope you’ll provide a clear explanation. Minnesotans deserve to know why our representative chose continued military engagement over a return to lawful, deliberate decision‑making.
